Meridian seeks bigger power cut from smelter

Low lake levels have triggered a further demand response notice under the power contract with NZAS.

NZ Aluminium Smelters will be compensated for production lost as a result of the demand response notice.

The aluminium smelter at Tiwai Point has been asked to save more electricity as hydro lake levels sink to 55% of average.
