Iwi not ‘material issues’, PoT bosses told

Local iwi and hapu are challenging Port of Tauranga in the Environment Court on its bid to dredge the harbour to extend its wharf.

Port of Tauranga’s board was challenged by a member of a local iwi group, which was among those fighting the company in the Environment Court over its berth extension, for it to be open to forming meaningful relationships with iwi rather than viewing them as “material issues”.
