Environment Court signs off Tauranga port extension, with hooks

The country’s largest port says it might bank on fast-track legislation after a dragged-out, five-year consenting and Environment Court process.

A second ‘interim’ decision by the Environment Court last Friday, confirming approval for stage one of Port of Tauranga’s Sulphur Point berth extension, remains conditional on further amendments.

The decision comes 20 months after a three-week court hearing last March and a first decision
