Auckland, Northland focus of multi-billion-dollar transit plans

Government moves on the first of 17 roads of national significance, with the likely bill already sitting at $15 billion.

Transport Minister Chris Bishop capped a two-day flurry of transport and roading infrastructure roll-outs on Wednesday, announcing the investment case for the $5 billion northwest rapid transit plan.

Bishop said that with no public transport options currently available, about 60% of West Aucklanders
