Uber responds to the Employment Court’s contractor decision

OPINION: Uber speaks out on court’s ruling that four local Uber drivers were employees, not independent contractors.

There are more than 7000 Uber drivers in New Zealand.

New Zealand’s Employment Court set an international precedent in October in ruling four local Uber drivers were employees, not independent contractors of the company.  

The case was first filed in July 2021 by First and E tū unions and heard in the Employment Court in Wellington by Chief Judge
