Economy exits recession with slight growth

New Zealand’s economy expanded 0.2% in the March quarter, after a 0.1% contraction previously.

The construction, business services, and manufacturing sectors declined in the March quarter.

New Zealand avoided a recession at the start of the year after the economy notched slight growth.

Statistics New Zealand data out this morning showed gross domestic product rose 0.2% in the March quarter, following a 0.1% drop in the December quarter.
