Inflation is now just a whisker away from the key midpoint of the RBNZ’s 1-3% target band.

Economists and market pundits are now pondering how hard the RBNZ should cut the official cash rate next month, after inflation finally re-entered the key target zone.

Yesterday, Stats NZ data showed annual inflation fell to 2.2% in the September quarter, down from 3.3% previously.
