Despite the impact of Covid-19, leading online investment marketplace Snowball Effect reported a stellar year and has increased its team by four to further propel the capital raising business.
Ben Brown has been appointed in the role of growth director, joining after leading the pioneering youth travel provider, International Volunteer HQ for two years, following that company’s sale to private equity. Brown brings more than 15 years’ corporate management experience in NZ and the UK, with a particular focus on sustainability, risk, and reputation management.
Alex Devereux joins the team as director growth capital, from his former role as general manager of Sidekicker, the largest online recruitment platform across Australia and New Zealand. Prior to this, he spent four years at Fonterra in corporate strategy and finance roles, where he was involved in capital projects, mergers and acquisitions, and supported joint ventures and new market entries for the co-operative’s Global Foodservice division.
Emily Heazlewood is in the newly created role of director growth and partnerships across Snowball Effect and Orchestra – an ESOP and centralised stakeholder management platform developed in partnership with Snowball Effect. Heazlewood joins the team after successfully developing and launching Romer, a global social network app that connects users with personalised activities and experiences. She brings experience in capital raising, digital strategy, and marketing.
Rounding out the line-up is Cormac McCullough, who joins Snowball Effect as an associate. McCullough previously worked for a global composite materials consultancy, where he was involved in the engineering design and project management of primarily marine projects. Prior to this, he worked with early-stage startup Freight Fish as a design engineer, and Rocket Lab as a project manager. McCullough will be working directly with companies as they prepare to raise capital.
Snowball Effect chief executive, Simeon Burnett, says: “We’re fortunate our business has flourished during such a time of uncertainty, and are extremely pleased to be able to bring such an outstanding group of people on board. The ongoing expansion of our business means we can continue to support high growth companies with a variety of products and capital raising solutions as they grow.”
