Simpson Grierson welcomes three to partnership

Simpson Grierson has announced the elevation to partnership of three of its senior Auckland-based lawyers, effective from January 1, 2023: Anastasiya Gutorova, Sarah Mitchell and Dominic Toomey.

Simpson Grierson chair, Anne Callinan said: “Anastasiya, Sarah, and Dominic are three highly talented lawyers who thoroughly deserve to join the partnership.

“Anastasiya is one of the leading young lights in the M&A and corporate practice area, Sarah is a key talent in our planning and environment team, and Dominic has proven himself as a leader within our banking and finance transactional team.

“They are outstanding practitioners and I have no doubt that [they] will help us continue to grow our business and reputation.”

Gutorova has advised on some of the most significant M&A transactions in New Zealand and has built a strong reputation through her industry connections, including in her role as a council member of the NZ Private Capital Association. She has been a high-profile advocate for Ukraine during the course of the year.

Sarah Mitchell, planning and environment partner

Mitchell specialises in consenting major developments and has been key to the growth of Simpson Grierson’s work in the urban development space. Current projects include the Huia Water Treatment Plant, the Eastern Busway, the Warkworth Ridge housing development, and the Beachlands South private plan change.

Dominic Toomey, banking and finance partner

Dominic advises domestic and foreign lenders and borrowers on all aspects of financing transactions. He has specialist knowledge in syndicated and club lending structures and is a recognised expert in the financing of technology companies. He has advised on the financing of some of the most significant leveraged transactions in the market and is a thought leader in the emerging area of green and sustainable financing.
