Sharesies appoints country manager for Australia

The appointment comes as the company marks growth in the Australian market.

Mon, 31 Mar 2025

Wealth app Sharesies has appointed Wade Ranford as its new country manager for Australia. The appointment comes as the company marks significant growth in the Australian market, with its customer base growing to a combined total of over 785,000 for New Zealand and Australia – of which 97,000 are Australian customers.

Sydney-based Ranford brings close to two decades of experience leading teams across industries including logistics and foreign exchange in North America, Canada, and Australia. He will be responsible for driving Sharesies’ retail and business customer growth in the  Australian market and overseeing its operations, as well as sitting on the Sharesies executive leadership team across Australasia.

“We’re excited to welcome Wade on to the Sharesies team. With many Australians locked out of the housing market, we’re seeing many people look at investing as a way to grow their wealth.

“We’re also seeing growing demand from businesses wanting to better connect and communicate with their retail investors or employee shareholders to help them understand the equity opportunities available to them,” said Sharesies co-founder and co-CEO Sonya Williams.

“It’s fantastic to be joining the Sharesies team and helping to build on the momentum the company has already achieved. I’m looking forward to hitting the ground running and growing our retail and business customer base in Australia,” said Ranford.

Headquartered out of New Zealand, Sharesies has grown to be a dominant player in the FinTech industry. In New Zealand, the company offers a range of products including investing, saving, and super, while Australian customers have access to investing across the US, AU, and NZ share markets, and key features including round-ups and auto-invest. Over time it’s expected that Australian customers will get access to a similar product suite to New Zealand.

Sharesies also specialises in administering employee share schemes, capital markets, and registry services for private companies. Its proprietary technology includes Sharesies Open, a specialist investor relations platform enabling companies to directly communicate and connect with retail investors. It has 600 company customers across the listed and private sector.
