Online travel booking and expense management technology company Serko Ltd has announced the appointment of Jan Dawson as an independent director on the board. She will replace Simon Botherway, who is standing down from the board at the conclusion of the Serko annual meeting, to be held on August 18. Dawson’s appointment will take effect from the conclusion of the AGM.
Dawson is chair of Westpac New Zealand, deputy chair of Air New Zealand and an independent director for AIG New Zealand and Meridian Energy. She has indicated that she is stepping down from both the Air New Zealand and Westpac boards later this year.
Dawson said she was, “excited to be able to contribute to the governance of Serko during a pivotal period in the company’s history ... it feels like an excellent time to bring my experience to the Company as it scales internationally.”
Serko chair Claudia Batten said: “The Serko board has been reviewing its composition and succession planning for some time and is delighted Jan has agreed to join the board. Jan’s appointment, with her extensive governance experience and true passion for building great companies, will support the company through its next phase of growth ... Dawson will take over as chair of the Audit and Risk Committee following Botherway’s retirement.”
The board has determined that Dawson is an independent director for the purposes of the NZX Listing Rules.
