SenateSHJ announces new leadership team, appointments

SenateSHJ has promoted Maree Wilson to managing partner of the New Zealand business. Wilson is well known to many clients and friends of SenateSHJ, having joined the business in 2020. She will head the corporate practice, which has grown substantially under her leadership. 

Also appointed is Jen Nolan as a partner in the Wellington office. She will lead client projects in both the corporate and public sector practices. Prior to joining SenateSHJ, Nolan was the External Relations director for the NZ Aluminium Smelter for nine years and held several roles for large government agencies and is a former broadcast journalist and producer.
 
Liam Hansen has been appointed as client manager in the Wellington office, with a specific focus on government relations. 

Wilson is an internationally recognised communicator with extensive corporate, issues management and leadership experience gained at home and abroad. She has deep experience in the primary sector, food, manufacturing, aged care, aviation, finance, and insurance industries. Her consulting experience includes a long-term secondment to Fonterra, where she worked for its China office from 2013 to 2017.

Wilson has a BA (First Class Honours) in political science and media studies from Victoria University of Wellington. She is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors and the Public Relations Institute of New Zealand

Nolan has more than 25 years of communications and corporate affairs experience with people leadership and mentoring skills. She has deep experience in crisis and issues management, drawing on her corporate, public affairs and media background. She has held several roles for large government agencies and is a former broadcast journalist and producer.

Hansen is a client manager, providing strategic communication advice to clients with a specific focus on government relations. Prior to joining SenateSHJ, Hansen worked for a boutique management consulting firm specialising in organisational change, where he assisted a broad range of public and private sector clients. 

He brings a strong knowledge of the media landscape from his previous role as a senior editor in the media intelligence sector as well as a robust understanding of commercial issues from his time working for a global real estate firm.

Amanda Chong has joined the company as office administrator in our Auckland office and Raphael Hilbron is now a consulting partner in the Wellington office.
