Dennis Edel joins SBS Wealth as chief client officer; other senior appointments in client care and growth
SBS Wealth is expanding its team of experts. Financial services leader Dennis Edel has joined the wealth management provider in the newly created role of chief client officer, effective February 23. Edel’s appointment comes at the same time as Matt Beach enters the company as head of client care and Richard Phillips as head of growth. Like CEO Morne Redgard, who took up his role in May 2023, all three new arrivals were part of the respected Kiwi Wealth team.
Edel has spent more than 30 years in financial services and was previously head of advice at Kiwi Wealth, where he also served as a financial adviser to clients, among several key advisory roles. He has also worked as a private banker for a major bank.

Beach joined SBS Wealth as head of client care in February 2024, having spent nearly nine years as head of client success at Kiwi Wealth. An experienced leader of large client-facing and operational teams in both the government and private sectors, he previously served as co-head of the UK Visa and Immigrations South American hub within the British Embassy in Bogota, Colombia, and worked for Immigration New Zealand in London and Wellington.
Beach is skilled at managing complex teams and stakeholders, servicing client needs across a range of channels, directing activity across product suites, and managing risk and regulatory compliance. He has a Bachelor’s degree in education and sociology from Victoria University of Wellington.
Phillips started with the SBS Wealth team in January 2024 as head of growth after four years with Kiwi Wealth leading growth and marketing. He is a co-founder of SmartPayroll and previously held senior marketing and business development roles with Xero, Koordinates, Atomic.io, and Creative HQ. He has a Bachelor of Marketing from the University of Auckland and a BCA in marketing and international business from Victoria University of Wellington.
