The Real Estate Institute of New Zealand (REINZ) has announced the board appointment of Wendy Alexander as the acting chief executive to cover the period between Bindi Norwell’s departure and the appointment of the new chief executive.
Alexander is a Fellow of REINZ, has been on the REINZ board as a regional director for eight years, and has been actively involved in the real estate profession for nearly 40 years. She is chair of the Remuneration/HR Committee for REINZ and oversees the Residential Property Management Sector Group.
Alexander worked for Barfoot & Thompson for 21 years and was chief executive for a significant period of that time.
REINZ board chair Bridget Coates said: “Wendy took on a similar ‘caretaker’ role before Bindi started with REINZ, and the board and I think this is an excellent solution to ensure the drive and strategic initiatives that we have under way will continue.
“An announcement as to who the new chief executive is will be made in due course,” Coates said.
Alexander will start as acting chief executive on Monday 15 March.
