Digital finance and banking specialist Sean Preston has been appointed head of wealth partnerships at PG Investments, part of the Perpetual Guardian Group, effective mid-October.

Preston most recently served as chief commercial officer at digital payments firm Immersve and was previously a long-time senior global executive at Visa, leading teams in Southeast Asia, Australasia, Italy, and the United Kingdom. He has worked as an independent consultant in the payments space and in business transformation with Westpac and is currently an executive council member at BlockchainNZ.

Preston said: “After more than 30 years in banking, payments and, more recently, in the Web 3 space, this is a natural next step in my career and I look forward to this new journey. I have a long-held passion for financial literacy and enabling individuals to improve their financial position, and my role with PG Investments is a fantastic opportunity to leverage my experience to date to work with the team to develop and execute the strategy to grow the wealth management business.

“Perpetual Guardian Group is more commonly known for its fiduciary business and many people may not realise it has around $2.8 billion in its PG Investments wholesale funds management business across 12 funds and is looking to enter the retail market. There are tremendous opportunities to unlock, and I am really looking forward to collaborating with our ... team and partners to explore these and deliver exceptional value to our clients.”

Perpetual Guardian Group CEO Patrick Gamble said: “This business is performing strongly and has successfully bedded in the Castle Point Funds Management business acquired earlier in the year.

“We are extremely pleased to have a leader of Sean’s calibre and diversity of experience join the group – his skills and relationships will be invaluable as we expand our competitive offering.”

Preston has a Bachelor of Commerce in accounting and finance from the University of Auckland.
