Listed manuka honey specialist Comvita has confirmed the appointment of Nigel Greenwood to the position of Chief Financial Officer. He will relocate to the Bay of Plenty to take up the role, starting September 15.
Greenwood is a highly experienced CFO, starting his career in the Deloitte audit team before gaining financial and commercial experience through executive appointments with Lyttelton Port Company, Gough Group, and Crane Distribution NZ. Greenwood then spent more than a decade with Synlait Milk as CFO, where he helped grow revenue from $100 million to $1 billion.
At Synlait, Greenwood was responsible for core finance, financial accounting, treasury, capital structure and long-range financial planning. He helped lead the organisation through significant change and transformation, including a number of mergers and acquisitions and two capital raises. He successfully completed Synlait’s NZ IPO in 2013 (with subsequent entrance to the NZX top 50), and later led the dual listing process on to the ASX in 2016.
Greenwood is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Institute of Directors.
Comvita CEO David Banfield said Greenwood's financial, commercial, primary sector and Asian market pedigree along with his strong listed company experience will be invaluable to Comvita.
"From our very first discussions his passion and desire to play a key role in the transformation underway at Comvita became obvious."
Comvita will retain the services of Adrian Barr who has been in the position of Acting CFO since the end of February. Barr will assume the new position of Chief Business Development Officer, where he will be responsible for overseeing the strategic review and advancement of key investments and commercial ventures.
