Janet Xuccoa takes over from Jonathan Cron, who is stepping down prior to moving overseas.
Jonathan Cron has announced his decision to step down as director and shareholder of New Zealand Family Trust Services Ltd. His decision was predicated on the basis he and his wife are intending to reside overseas and felt clients would be better served with a director being present in New Zealand.
After considerable thought, the company approached Janet Xuccoa who has accepted the role of managing director. Xuccoa is a proven leader, possessing a deep understanding and knowledge of trusts. It is expected she will bring in-depth experience and expertise to the role. Her pedigree points to this with her having spent the past 25 years working with trusts, being the director of the company that won the inaugural award for Corporate Trustee of New Zealand and having authored several books on trusts, the most recent book being Trusts | 123, on sale from September 1.
When approached for comment, Xuccoa said she was looking forward to carrying out her new role, helping clients keep their trusts compliant, ensuring the benefits trusts bestow continue. She said the legislative landscape in which trusts operate has experienced significant change, resulting in trustees facing increased scrutiny.
She purported that trustees were best supported by professional advisers adopting a holistic inclusive approach, with lawyers and accountants working together with independent trustees. She believed this methodology resulted in better administered and managed trusts, increasing the likelihood of trustees satisfying their duties and beneficiaries being better served.
Xuccoa will take up the position of managing director, New Zealand Family Trust Services Ltd on August 5.
