David Callanan takes on the newly created role from December 24.
Public Trust has announced the appointment of David Callanan to the newly created role of chief legal and risk officer. The new position merges the current roles of GM legal and governance and chief risk officer.
Callanan has been acting chief risk officer at Public Trust since September 2019 and will assume the new permanent position, which includes oversight of the legal function, from December 24, 2019 following the departure of current GM legal and governance, Liz Style.
Most recently, Callanan was chief risk officer at Tower for more than three years, where his team oversaw risk, compliance, legal and governance for the Tower group.
Prior to Tower, Callanan was chief risk officer at RACQ Insurance in Australia. He also spent four years at PwC in Australia and London.
Callanan’s strong focus on optimising legal and compliance outcomes while ensuring great results for customers means he’s ideally placed to further the legal and risk functions at Public Trust,” Public Trust CEO Glenys Talivai said.
