KPMG New Zealand is continuing its commitment of providing expert advice to Kiwi businesses through the promotion of five new partners within the firm. They have outstanding reputations in their respective fields, reflecting the diverse expertise and perspectives they bring to the firm’s clients.

KPMG New Zealand chief executive, Jason Doherty said: “I’m excited to announce the appointment of these five exceptional individuals. Their addition to the firm’s leadership strengthens our ability to navigate business challenges and unlock growth opportunities for our clients.

“Our recent partnership promotions play an integral part in our journey of building an inclusive and equitable workforce that reflects the diverse communities of Aotearoa that we live and work in, alongside our purpose of fuelling the prosperity of New Zealand for all New Zealanders; Tītokona tō tātou tōnuitanga, mō Aotearoa, mō tatou.”

KPMG’s new partners are:

Ben Szeto (advisory partner) provides trusted strategic advice to private and public sector executives.  His focus is on realisation of outcomes, achieved through strategy execution, service delivery improvements, change management, and portfolio/programme/project management. He has led large-scale and complex organisational change programmes and is a leader in the firm’s operational improvements team, ensuring changes have sustainable outcomes for citizens and staff. Szeto has a deep understanding of the machinery of government and is passionate about supporting organisations to make lasting impact for current and future generations.

Edwina Ma (tax partner) leads KPMG New Zealand’s tax dispute management practice and has advised on a broad range of tax matters. She is passionate about helping clients navigate complex tax challenges, manage tax risk, and achieve greater certainty through proactive engagement with Inland Revenue. Ma has assisted New Zealand listed companies, family-owned businesses, multinationals, and high-wealth individuals in managing and resolving Inland Revenue audits and disputes.

Jordan Fincham (tax partner), a partner in the corporate tax practice, Fincham specialises in providing tax advice to clients in the real estate sector as well as tax deal advisory services (including buy-side and sell-side tax due diligence and structuring advice). Fincham has broad experience advising both listed and unlisted property groups, land developers, large privately owned groups, private equity funds, and a range of large and medium-sized corporates in the consumer, construction, and education sectors.

Nicola Owbridge (management consulting partner) works with New Zealand companies to help them understand what is stopping them from being the best they can be, co-designing new ways of doing business that will make a real impact on the market, and implementing change that will deliver on their strategy. As a consultant, Owbridge has experience leading organisational-wide transformation and change programmes as well as targeted operating model and process optimisation projects. Her clients span corporates, financial services, and the public sector.

Sanel Tomlinson (sustainable value partner) has more than 25 years’ experience advising clients across industries and geographies with a particular focus on matters affecting business from a finance and corporate reporting perspective. She was previously the head of strategy for the External Reporting Board (XRB) and led the initial set up of the Climate Standards project, including acting as the interim project director. Tomlinson was previously a partner at KPMG in China based in Hong Kong, where she advised clients on international financial reporting standards, sustainable/green finance, and ESG regulations issued by the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and Hong Kong Monetary Authority.
