Accountancy firm KPMG has announced ten new partners.
Riria Te Kanawa (Ngāti Maniapoto, Ngāti Rārua, Tainui-o-Tainui, Ngāti Koata, Ngāti Porou) – national industry lead – Māori, Hamilton. Te Kanawa has led KPMG’s service and contribution to the Māori sector since starting at the firm in 2015. She has over 25 years experience, firstly as a chartered accountant and then as a strategist and change agent as a business consultant.
Kaapua Smith (Ngāti Porou, Ngāti Apa, Ngāti Awa, Ngāi Tahu) - government consulting partner, Wellington. With a career spanning more than 20 years across government, Māori and corporate sectors, Smith has held influential roles such as head of sustainability at Contact Energy, political advisor and press secretary for the minister of Māori affairs and press secretary for the minister for Whānau Ora, as well as roles at Te Puni Kokiri and ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
Dr Charles Ehrhart – partner - climate change, decarbonisation, ESG & sustainability lead, Auckland. Ehrhart has nearly 30 years of professional experience working across governments, the UN, civil society, and the private sector. For the past 18 years, Ehrhart has focused on the challenges of mitigating and adapting to climate change. He currently leads KPMG New Zealand's climate change, decarbonisation, ESG, and sustainability services.
Cushla Parish – audit technology risk partner, Tauranga. Parish leads the firm's national audit technology risk team which focuses on assessing the security processes and controls of client IT environments to mitigate risks related to the integrity and reliability of systems and data.
Gavin Silva – audit partner, Wellington. Silva has over 14 years experience providing audit and assurance services to listed and high-profile clients in New Zealand and Canada. He has worked with clients in a wide range of industries and specialises in energy, investment management, and financial services.
Rochelle Campbell – tax partner, Auckland. With almost 19 years experience, Campbell specialises in providing tax advice to clients in the real estate sector and is KPMG’s property sector leader. Her broad experience includes advising New Zealand-listed and unlisted real estate companies on a range of tax issues and she has been involved in a number of due diligence, acquisition, and capital raising engagements.
Sven Pannell – private enterprise partner, Wellington. Sven has over 20 years experience helping businesses to develop strategy, deliver growth and improve performance. Pannell is a leading figure in KPMG’s approach to helping New Zealand private businesses develop and execute their strategic plans, working alongside an expanding team and a growing range of private businesses across a variety of business sizes, stages, sectors, and markets.
Andrew Simpson – advisory partner, Christchurch. Leading KPMG’s South Island consulting team in Christchurch, Simpson has more than 25 years experience in the UK and New Zealand specialising in enterprise risk management, internal audit, and complex business transformation projects.
Matthew Wilcox – audit partner, Auckland. Specialising in audit and assurance, Wilcox clients include those in the energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, and construction sectors, and have included NZX listed, UK FTSE and AIM companies as well as private equity-backed and owner-managed businesses.
Peter Chew – consulting partner, Wellington. Chew has over 20 years experience in the UK and New Zealand primarily focussed on public sector operational efficiency, operating model design and implementation, value for money, cost reduction, strategic reviews, data analytics, and leading complex change programmes.
