Educational gaming company Joy Business Academy has a new general manager for its New Zealand operations.
Xanthe Sulzberger has joined the academy to assume responsibility for New Zealand’s day-to-day operations of the company, which has the backing of partners including Microsoft, Xero, the Ministry of Social Development, BDO and BCITO in its Tycoon Series of educational games.
The educational games teach school-age students and adults who are retraining how to run businesses in the hospitality, technology and construction industries.
Ms Sulzberger’s background in the New Zealand education sector includes roles as principal and deputy principal in two large secondary schools, along with work with the Ministry of Education.
Joy Business Academy founder James Coddington said Sulzberger’s appointment was a boon to the business at a critical time of growth in the brand and services and would allow him to focus more on international expansion.
Ms Sulzberger holds a bachelor of education and diploma of teaching (PE and health) from Massey University College of Education and a postgraduate diploma in educational leadership (distinction) and masters in educational leadership with honours from Waikato University.
JBA has 54 staff in seven countries. Thirty-eight are based in New Zealand, while the Taipei staff handles blockchain, quality assurance teams are based in Romania and the Philippines, with sales teams in the US, Malaysia and Pakistan. Currently, the business operates in the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Malaysia, the United States and New Zealand, and there are plans to expand.
