Heritage Lifecare has appointed Brent Pattison as the company’s new chief executive officer.
Pattison – who has a strong background in aged care, including having previously served as CEO of Oceania, will step into the role in early 2025.
He will succeed Norah Barlow who is retiring after six years as CEO of Heritage, one of New Zealand’s leading aged care providers, and a career dedicated to the industry.
“After decades of being connected to the aged care industry, I have decided that the time is right for me to retire as CEO of Heritage Lifecare and embrace the next chapter of my life,” said Barlow.
However, she will remain committed to the company, having agreed to become chair of the Heritage Lifecare board on her retirement as CEO.
Existing board chair Rick Waters said Barlow had been an exceptional leader and: “She has guided the company through significant growth and transformation, including navigating the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, overseeing strategic acquisitions, and strengthening our position as one of New Zealand’s largest and most respected aged care providers.”
Waters said with Pattison at the helm, Heritage would continue to pursue growth opportunities via investment and acquisition and focus on ongoing improvement in the quality of care across the country.
“We believe Brent’s experience and vision, including leading significant advancements in retirement living and care services while CEO of Oceania, will be key to continuing the growth and success of Heritage.
“Together, Brent and Norah will ensure that Heritage continues to be a leading voice for aged care in New Zealand. Most critically, we will continue to push for a sustainable funding model to ensure that, with country’s ageing demographic, there is equal access to high-quality care across New Zealand now and into the future.
“Norah’s contributions to Heritage Lifecare and the wider aged care industry … have been immense and truly inspiring. Her impact will be felt for many years to come.”
