Environmental and sustainable development expert, Hannah Hamling takes up the post from February 1, 2020.
Environmental and sustainable development expert, Hannah Hamling, has been appointed to the Mercury board effective February 1, 2020.
Hamling fills a vacancy created by the retirement from the board in September of former chair Joan Withers.
Auckland-based Hamling is president of the Asia-Pacific region for Golder, a global ground engineering and environmental science company with more than 6500 personnel worldwide. She has more than 30 years consulting experience, and 20 years in management and board roles.
Mercury chair Prue Flacks said, welcoming Hamling to the Mercury board: “Hannah’s strong environmental science background and her experience in water management issues are particularly relevant to Mercury and its place in a world facing some critical climate-related challenges and opportunities.”
“Hannah’s background along with her governance skills will complement the board’s collective capabilities, a review of which has recently been completed,” she said.
Under Mercury’s constitution, Hamling is required to retire at the next Annual Shareholders’ Meeting in September 2020 and stand for election by shareholders at that meeting.
