The Authority has announced Dr Nicola (Nicki) Crauford has been appointed as the new chair of the Electricity Authority.
Crauford’s term starts on 1 November 2020.
Crauford comes to the Authority with extensive industry knowledge, having held executive roles in the sector with Transpower and governance roles with Genesis Energy, Orion New Zealand, and Pioneer Energy.
She is chair of GNS Science and Director at Kāinga Ora, Watercare Services, and CentrePort. Crauford is also a director at Pioneer Energy but will be resigning from this role to manage any potential conflict.
Crauford’s industry and governance experience includes roles at Environmental Protection Authority; Wellington Water; Fire and Emergency New Zealand; and the Institute of Directors.
She has a doctorate from the University of Southampton in the investigation and modelling of fire spread in buildings and a BSc(Hons) in chemical engineering from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
Crauford will replace Dr Brent Layton, who is retiring after 10 years as chair of the Authority.
