Google Cloud has announced the appointment of Paul Dearlove to the newly established role of head of Google Cloud in New Zealand. The move signals the company’s ongoing investment in Aotearoa to meet growing demand for its cloud services locally, and closely follows the recent announcement of its first ever New Zealand cloud region.
Dearlove will be based in Auckland and responsible for leading the New Zealand go-to-market cloud strategy. The new local cloud region will offer high-performance, low-latency services and products to local customers.
Google Cloud Australia and New Zealand vice-president Alister Dias said: “We’re delighted to have Paul leading our New Zealand Cloud business as we enter the next phase of growth and investment in Aotearoa.
“Paul’s proven experience and deep knowledge will be extremely valuable as we continue to bring the best of Google Cloud technology, including the first-ever New Zealand cloud region, to our growing base of Kiwi customers and partners.”
Dearlove has spent the past two years as the head of SAP across Australia and New Zealand at Google Cloud. Prior to that, he led the ANZ digital core cloud division for SAP.
He said: “We’re doubling down on our investment in New Zealand and backing our mission to help Kiwis and their businesses succeed in a digital economy.
