NZ Venture capital fund manager Global From Day One (GD1) is pleased to announce the appointment of Liam Corkery to the senior position of Head of Platform, Partnerships & Community. Liam will be actively working with portfolio companies and strengthening GD1’s partnerships with organisations in New Zealand and around the world.

He has a Global Executive MBA from the University of Southern California and he was New Zealand’s Trade Commissioner in Taipei from 2010-2014 and then Beijing from 2014-2018.

He worked on three outbound prime ministerial trade missions and his team helped facilitate more than $500 million worth of new business for New Zealand companies. Prior to NZTE, Corkery worked with investor migrants at the Immigration New Zealand Business Migration Branch.
GD1 managing partner Chintaka Ranatunga said Corkery, “brings perspectives, experience, and networks that complement our team, and will undoubtedly provide a unique level of support to our portfolio companies, which are all technology exporters focused on global markets. Despite the challenging current environment, GD1 remains focused on helping founders build New Zealand’s next generation of global tech success stories.”
GD1 recently committed $5m to support three portfolio companies affected by Covid-19.
