Datacom has appointed Matthew Evetts as the new director for cybersecurity in New Zealand.
Evetts’ 19 years of experience in business and IT has honed a set of skills targeted towards bridging the worlds of business and technology and making people the centre of progress.
“Cyber has been a major focus for me and I’ve seen a sea-change that has occurred over the last decade ... the shift in awareness of cybersecurity issues has evolved and matured in business circles. Today, the threatscape is changing as fast as I’ve ever seen before,” Evetts said.
Evetts will lead a large team of people in advisory, security operations, and managed cybersecurity services.
Datacom managing director for New Zealand technology services Justin Gray said: “I’m delighted to welcome Matthew to the team and look forward to seeing where he will take our cybersecurity initiatives. The number and complexity of the threats we see are ever increasing and for our customers’ peace of mind we have to grow and adapt as well. Matthew has a big job ahead of him and I’m sure he’s up to the task.”
