Buddle Findlay is delighted to announce the appointment of two new partners, building depth and expertise across its corporate and commercial and resource management teams.
Jenna Silcock has been appointed as a Christchurch-based partner in the environment and resource management team, further bolstering the depth and breadth of the national team.
Having joined the firm in 2011 as a solicitor, Silcock has extensive experience advising a wide range of local authority, government, and corporate clients on a variety of resource management matters including RMA consenting, designations, district and regional planning, appeals, and enforcement.
Silcock also has experience in civil litigation, including advising on judicial review risks and acting for local authorities in respect of judicial reviews. She regularly engages in mediation and alternative dispute resolution processes and has appeared before Council Hearing Panels, Independent Hearings Panels, the Environment Court, the District Court, the High Court, and the Court of Appeal.
Keri Johansson has been appointed as a partner in the Auckland corporate and commercial team, specialising in technology, media and privacy. She joined the firm in 2009 as a solicitor and, with her broad range of areas of expertise, will complement the partnership.
Johansson advises on significant and complex IT procurement, as well as commercialisation, licensing and regulation of technology, data, and content. She also helps New Zealand and overseas clients with collection and processing of personal information, and to prepare for and respond to data incidents. She has a particular interest in media law, with long-standing experience advising screen producers, broadcasters, advertisers and new media operators.
With the addition of Silcock and Johansson, Buddle Findlay now has 39% female representation in its partnership. Buddle Findlay board member and national chair of the diversity and inclusion committee, Charlotte von Dadelszen, said: “Jenna and Keri’s promotion to the partnership is really exciting and is a significant achievement for them both, and for our firm.”
