BSA appoints Glen Scanlon as CEO

New chief executive of the Broadcasting Standards Authority.

Mon, 07 Sep 2020

A former head of news and digital at Radio New Zealand has been appointed chief executive of the Broadcasting Standards Authority.

Glen Scanlon, who takes up the role on October 12, said peoples’ trust in media was “essential to the maintenance of a vibrant and thriving democracy. Organisations like the BSA are key to helping support this and freedom of speech without harm.”

BSA chair Judge Bill Hastings said Scanlon would bring a wealth of experience in digital, broadcast and print media to the role at a time when the broad media environment and how it was regulated was under increasing pressure.
