Alexander Siebentritt has been appointed as general manager of Rutherford Hotel Nelson – a Heritage Hotel. He was previously assistant hotel manager (since 2015) and replaces the late Bevan McGillicuddy.
His responsibilities include the management of the hotel’s overall operation, with a particular focus on the food and beverage department with two award-winning restaurants (Oceano and Miyazu), conference facilities of up to 700 guests, bar, room service and café, as well as a brand new, state-of-the-art conference facility.
During his time as assistant hotel manager, Mr Siebentritt maximised sales and profitability potential for each aspect of the business, while ensuring the delivery of a world-class service.
He also created new wine lists, working with local suppliers, and created marketing strategies to drive more business, particularly in the food and beverage department.
Prior to his role at Rutherford Hotel Nelson, Mr Siebentritt was general manager of Tuakau Hotel in north Waikato, restaurant manager at The Farm at Cape Kidnappers in the Hawkes Bay and food and beverage manager at Peppers Manor House in New South Wales.
Other roles include as food and beverage manager for Rutherford Hotel Nelson back in 2010-2012, and other positions at Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, The Lodge at Kauri Cliffs, Castle on the Hudson in New York, as well as various hospitality jobs in Germany and Austria.
He is a graduate of the LS Obertrum three-year hotel management course and was a hospitality management intern for New York’s Castle on the Hudson.
