Air New Zealand has announced the addition of Alexandria (Alex) Marren as Chief Operating Officer and Michael (Mike) Williams in the new role of Chief Transformation & Alliances Officer.
Marren is expected to join in late March. She is currently the president of ABM Aviation in Atlanta, US. She has worked 36 years in senior operations, customer, cabin crew, and airport leadership roles between Hertz Corporation and United Airlines.
Marren replaces current COO Carrie Hurihanganui who will become CEO at Auckland International Airport Limited in February.
The role will be occupied by members of the executive team until Marren’s arrival.
Michael Williams will become the first Chief Transformation and Alliances Officer starting in February. He will lead the delivery of Air New Zealand’s strategy and be responsible for relationships with alliance partners.
Williams is currently Group General Manager Commercial Alliances and Strategy for the company and has been in senior roles with Air New Zealand since 2016.
Williams has previously worked overseas for companies such as Boston Consulting Group in Australia and with a number of clients in the aviation, technology, and retail sectors.
Company CEO Greg Foran said both appointments further equip the airline’s executive team with the skills and experience to help the airline emerge strongly from the pandemic and deliver improved results for customers and shareholders.
