Accenture has appointed Miles Fordyce in the new role of data and AI lead for New Zealand, effective immediately.

Fordyce has 30 years of broad industry experience, and was most recently chief digital and data officer at the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand. He was a finalist for IDC’s NZ CIO of the Year award in 2023.

Before that, Miles headed data and practice management for Tower Insurance, where he introduced AI capabilities for fraud detection and claims management.

He has also held senior leadership positions with Foodstuffs North Island, NZ Post, Auckland Transport, and Air New Zealand. He is an Accenture alumnus, having worked for Accenture early in his career with roles in Wellington, Sydney, and Melbourne.

Accenture New Zealand’s country managing director Justin Mowday said the appointment would create a direct line to deliver the consultancy’s global expertise into the New Zealand market.

“In Miles we’ve found a leader with a deep understanding of the opportunities AI holds for New Zealand, and who has the skillset to boot. Miles has become a trusted technology advisor to both the public and private sector. We’re pleased to offer his expertise as part of Accenture’s growing list of assets for our clients in New Zealand.”

Fordyce said: “Because technology is adapting quickly, many executives have their hands full with everyday operations. That makes implementing and scaling AI difficult. “

“Accenture offers the work capacity and know-how to help, gleaned from projects completed for clients in New Zealand and overseas.”
