Cruises valued at almost $1.4 billion – but it’s not all cruisy

They were all at sea during the pandemic years, but cruise ships keep coming back and splashing money around.

Port of Auckland says it has scheduled 108 cruise ship visits carrying 230,000 passengers for the upcoming summer season, which is likely to inject more than $600 million into the city’s coffers.

That's well down on the port's 138 visits, and 317,844 passengers, during the last October to June
