Terms of trade lift 1.6% in June quarter

The rise follows a 1% rise in the March quarter and a 3.2% drop in December.

Export prices outpaced imports in the June quarter, pushing the merchandise terms of trade up 1.6% from the March quarter.

The terms of trade is a measure of the purchasing power of exports and an increase means New Zealand can buy more imports for the same amount of exports.
