Stocks take another pounding

NYSE triggers trading halt as market reacts to Federal Reserve cut in interest rate.

US stocks were forced into a 15-minute automatic trading halt on the New York Stock Exchange as opening prices pushed the S&P500 index down 8%.

Prices continued to fall when trading resumed and by mid afternoon in New York the index was down 9.2%.
