SEC finds market manipulation, fraud by ex PGG Wrightson chairman

NZX-listed company’s major shareholder also fined for fraudulent accounting.

The US Securities & Exchange Commission has found the former chairman of PGG Wrightson, Guanglin Lai, engaged in fraudulent market manipulation of Agria stock on the New York Stock Exchange.

The SEC also found Mr Lai’s company, Agria, PGG Wrightson’s 50.2% shareholder, engaged in fraudulent
