Record pump prices take bigger bite of electronic card spending

Spending on fuel rose 1.4% in October while consumption of other items was flat.

The higher cost of fuel is eating into consumer spending elsewhere in the latest indicator that the economy is slowing.

However, the accommodation business is continuing to boom, with guest nights passing the 40 million mark for the first time in the September year.
