Ports of Auckland profit falls 57% as cargo backlog continues

The port paid the council a full-year dividend of just $4.9 million.

The Covid-19 pandemic has bitten a chunk out of ratepayer-owned Ports of Auckland’s profit, which fell by 57% in the 12 months to June 30.

Net profit after tax was $23 million, compared with $53.9m in the 2019 financial year, which was also a tough result for the port.
