Pacific Aluminium loses money, boosts production

Update on Tiwai Point strategic review due by end of March.

Rio Tinto subsidiary Pacific Aluminium, 79.4% owner of the Tiwai Point aluminium smelter, has reported an underlying loss for the year to December as lower sales prices met higher costs.

The loss of $46.2 million followed an underlying profit the previous year of $21.6m.
