The local benchmark share index fell in the opening minutes of trading as the Covid-19 coronavirus outbreak ramped up globally - and just kept falling.
The NZX50 plummeted 4.5% in the first five minutes of trading, and the decline has continued steadily to sit at more than 10% mid-afternoon.
