NZIER forecasts growth this year and next

Omicron, inflation, higher interest rates, invasion of Ukraine all challenge to economy.

The Omicron outbreak and higher interest rates are expected to ensure the economic recovery this year is more protracted than that experienced after the 2020 downturn.

In its latest quarterly predictions, NZIER is expecting annual growth of 4.9% this year and 3% next year.
