New finance company receives non-bank deposit takers licence

Welcome Ltd, owned by the family which also owns Hawke’s Bay’s Tumu Group, is the first company to receive a NBDT licence from the RBNZ in about eight years.

The Reserve Bank issued Welcome Ltd with a NBDT licence on January 6.

The Reserve Bank has issued its first non-bank deposit takers licence in eight years to a finance company that plans to start trading in April.

Welcome Limited, which was incorporated in March 2024, was granted the licence on January 6.

It is majority owned by the O’Sullivan family office, Tumu
