Mining industry welcomes critical minerals list

Move seen as acknowledgement of sector’s value, although many minerals on the list have no known NZ production potential.

The Government has released a draft list of 35 minerals considered critical to New Zealand’s economic future, of which only eight are currently being produced here and 16 have no known potential local production.
