Inflation hits a 30-year high

The Consumers Price Index has hit its highest level since June 1990.

The consumers price index (CPI) increased 6.9% in the March 2022 quarter, compared with the March 2021 quarter, reaching a 30-year high.

This was the largest movement since a 7.6% annual increase in the year to June 1990, Stats NZ said today.
