High Court rejects Hawkins' 'extortive' borrowing company appeal

Finance company Budget Loans’ appeal against a $720,000 fine for “cynical and extortive” misleading of borrowers while enforcing loan contracts has been dismissed by the Auckland High Court.

Meanwhile, the Commerce Commission is pursuing management banning orders under the Fair Trading Act
