FMA sees improved auditor independence but quality issues persist

The proportion of non-assurance fees charged by audit firms remains at 16%.

The Financial Markets Authority says auditors are getting better at reporting threats to their independence but a review of 20 audit files, including 13 listed companies, found one instance of an auditor not appropriately disclosing a business relationship.
