Wages and promotions penalty for working parents is real: study
New survey by Kiwibank and Talbot Mills finds the 'parenting penalty' – and particularly the 'mothering penalty' – is widely experienced, as the bank introduces expanded parental leave.
Almost 63% of men and women believe there is an income ‘penalty’ and 55% believe their career advancement options are compromised when they become parents, with the feeling of taking a step back particularly acute among women.
These were among findings from a nationwide survey of over 1200
