Fewer tourists knock retail card spending in May

Domestic demand for consumer goods and services has slowed since February.

Retail card spending dipped in May, reversing a similar rise in April and falling short of expectations.

When adjusted for seasonal effects, overall retail spending fell 0.5% in May, after a 0.6% rise in April, which included the Easter and school holiday periods, Stats NZ said.
