Australian funds dominate NZ’s mid-market investment in 2023

The latest NZ Private Capital Monitor shows overall investment activity down but mid-market buoyant.

 

Overall investment activity has slumped while the mid-market is bouyant.

Australian-domiciled funds had the largest share of mid-market investment in New Zealand in 2003 for the first time since 2015.

Mid-market investment (private equity deals up to $150 million) rose to $541.2m in 2023 compared with $342.6m the prior year, according to the latest New Zealand Private
