Air fares jump as airlines impose fuel surcharges

Rising international fuel prices and strong demand for northern hemisphere summer travel are creating a double whammy for airlines. 

Fuel prices, which take up about a third of an airline’s costs, shot up sharply on the Russian invasion of Ukraine, but have since dropped more than 6%
